Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

• Does this building take up the entire block?
• Seems to be a good candidate for affordable house and historic tax credits.
• How are buildings selected to be advanced for demolition?  Does B&H look at the value/significance/potential to the community when demolitions are ranked?
• Has every option been exhausted to save this building?
• What are the conditions of all the building walls?
• Suggest speaking with CRS (new program to rehab small buildings) about putting out a RFP for this structure for an adaptive re-use.
• Does the basement extend under the sidewalk?
• Is it possible to pull off the decking and back porches to mothball to provide some safety for the rear property owners.

Councilman Hairston is in attendance and has stated his support for the demolition.  He has also spoken to the work that he and the CDC are doing to triage the commerical corridors in the ward/neighborhood.
